Big mac comes in 9th for career slg pct and I think by the time several other players are finished their careers he will slip out of the top 10. I am sure nobody will be suprised by number 1, Babe Ruth whos slugging numbers remain unmatchable by "modern" players(.689 slg vs big macs .5882). Supringsly the number 1 active player is Todd Helton who is 4th all time on the list. Rounding out the top ten are of course 2)ted williams 3) lou gehrig 5)jimmy foxx 6)hank greenberg 7)bonds 8)manny 10) vlad . Arod is currently 11th but playing in that short porch yankee staduim will probably leap him into the top 10. Other active players near the top Piazza (14th) Thome (15th) big hurt (16)Walker (17) jaun gone (19th) and brian giles (20). As you can see modern baseball has produced more than its fair share of sluggers (11 of the top 20 are active today).

Despite playing most of his long career in a baseball staduim known as the "launching pad"(fulton county staduim) Aaron is suprisngly low on the all time slg pct list (28th all time) .Aarons home run total is more a reflection of his long career (23 seasons) and playing in a tiny hitters park. Bester slugger? not even close

Either Babe Ruth, Lou Gherig, or Ted Williams. They are all tied for first in my book. They define what baseball is about. Though of course, Babe gets the edge. Look at what he did in his career, and most of it was WHILE HE WAS DRUNK! So that fact gives him an edge. I would like to see someone today produce the kind of statistics that Ruth did, and I would like to see them match or better htose stats while drunk. Then they deserve to be called the best pure power hitter of all time.

Big Mac was the man, I can't think of anyone that crushed the ball the way he did.

PURE power hitter, I think you would have to go with either Ruth or Mantle.
I think best combo of power and contact has to go to Ted Williams and Todd Helton, though. Helton is one of the top 3 gems in the game today, yet he gets ZERO play because he is on the rockies.
