I really like Miguel Tejada, even though I am a Yankee fan, he is way better than Jeter....who really isnt even the best shortstop on his team

Jeter. He is major clutch, a great defensive SS, a good hitting one, and a great clubhouse guy. I love him ;D

I'll go with Jeter. The Yankees have the 2 best SS's in the MLB on the same team in my opinion.

I think a case could be made for Tejeda since the best ss is currently playing 3rd base for the yankees as for jeter, he moves to his left worse than any shortstop I can think off, lacks range ( in UZR/ultimate zone ratings, Jeter finishes last every year of his career) has a less than stellar arm and is currently batting under the mendozza line. If Jeter had played his entire career as a Kansas city Royal he would never enter a single discussion of "best shortstop", that in itself speaks volumes of his real abilities. Remeber, a team wins the world series not an individual.

A-Rod, even tho he's not playin SS now is the best in the game. I'm happy he's atleast not bitching about not playin SS because he knows he will win in NY. Most people would be like Jeter's playin bad i'm better I shuld play there. Even tho Jeter is the leader of this club.

Where is Omar Vizquel!? While he obviously isn't the "Best" he still has to be top 5 based soley on his defensive ability. He is better than all of the guys on this poll when it comes to defense, the guy has NINE GOLD GLOVES, 'nuff said.
He can swing the bat too, he doesn't have a lot of pop, but he isn't too shabby of a contact hitter.
